FAQ

What is CBD

Here is a brief snapshot of what CBD actually is:
  • CBD is a naturally occurring, plant-based cannabinoid or phyto-cannabinoid, that interacts with your own body’s Endo-Cannabinoid System
  • CBD is just one of 100+ active compounds (cannabinoids, terpenoids, flavonoids, etc.) found in the hemp plant
  • CBD is a benign chemical compound that is not high-inducing and will not make you fail a drug test in its pure isolate form
“In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…to date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

– WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

CBD Oil is extracted from the flowers of the female hemp plants. The main extraction methods for CBD oil are Super Critical CO2 and Sub-zero cold ethanol. CBD oil is usually blended with a carrier oil like coconut oil to enhance palatability and to target specific potency formulations.

Hemp Oil is extracted from the seeds of the pollinated hemp plants. Hemp oil on its own contains no cannabinoids but is highly sought after for its impressive nutrition profile. Hemp seeds are a complete protein and the seed oil also has many industrial applications as well.

Full Spectrum CBD products contain all of the major and minor phyto-cannabinoids found naturally in the plant, including trace amounts of THC, legally less than 0.3%.

Broad Spectrum CBD products usually are the same as Full Spectrum products, but the THC has been removed. Other minor phyto-cannabinoids should be present, as well as the terpenes, flavonoids, and chlorophyll.

Isolate CBD products are further refined to expel all of the other cannabinoids leaving a 99.9% pure CBD crystalline powder.

Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, though many people commonly associate them with cannabis because cannabis plants contain high concentrations of them. These aromatic compounds create the characteristic scent of many plants, such as cannabis, pine, and lavender, as well as fresh orange peel.

Is CBD safe for everyone? Will it get me high?

Is CBD safe for everyone to use?

According to the World Health Organization, "CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential [in humans]. ... To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD." However, CBD may not be the best-suited ingredient for every person. A healthcare practitioner who uses CBD in his or her practice can offer guidance tailored to each individual’s specific needs.

CBD is not recommended for use by individuals under 18 years of age, or women who are pregnant and/or nursing.

Is CBD psychoactive, will it get me high? What percentage is the THC content?

A psychoactive substance changes brain function and leads to alterations in perception, mood, consciousness, cognition, or behavior. CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not cause one to become high.

While state governments have different legislation and views on THC, its content is currently federally restricted at a legal limit of no more than 0.3%.

Will CBD interact with vitamins, supplements, and foods?

Generally speaking, interactions with vitamins, supplements, and foods are unlikely to cause issues, but every individual is different and there are always exceptions. If you have any concerns, it’s best to talk to your doctor about how CBD would interact with your current routine (daily meds, vitamins, etc.)

Is it possible to take too much CBD? If so, what happens?

One can take too much of anything (even water!) but in a rare, worst-case scenario, too much will likely only result in a headache.
